link Triggers

A Trigger determines when Notify sends a message. Unlike standard Google Sheets™ notifications, which are often delayed or generic, Notify triggers run in near real-time.

We support two primary modes, which you can select in the Trigger Logic step.

link 1. Any Change

This mode fires an alert every time a cell in your target column changes.

Audit logs, activity tracking, or slow-moving data (e.g., "New Lead Added").
Behavior
If you edit a cell from Pending to Approved, it fires. If you delete a value, it fires.

link 2. Specific Value

This mode only fires when the cell content matches a specific rule.

Formula Values

Notify watches the Output Value of a cell, not the formula itself. If a formula result changes (e.g., via an external data import), the trigger will fire.

link The "Current Only" Scope

Notify uses spreadsheets.currentonly permission scope. This is a security feature that ensures:

We can only see the spreadsheet you installed the add-on in.

We cannot "scan" your Google Drive™ for other files.
3
The trigger only listens to the specific tab/column you configured.

link Rate Limiting

To prevent spamming your chat when you bulk-edit a spreadsheet:

If you paste 50 rows at once, Notify will attempt to process them.

We process alerts in a FIFO (First In, First Out) queue.
